SMS Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 10, 2026

1. Overview

midlayr ("we," "us," or "our") provides a secure online platform for our clients to manage projects, invoices, and documents. To protect your account from unauthorized access, we use two-factor authentication (2FA) — when you log in, we send a one-time verification code to your mobile phone via SMS. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your mobile phone number for this purpose. By providing your mobile number and consenting to receive SMS messages from midlayr, you agree to the practices described here.

2. What We Send You

midlayr uses your mobile number exclusively to send one-time verification codes (OTPs) that you must enter to complete the login process for your midlayr account. These messages are transactional and security-related — they are sent only when you (or someone attempting to access your account) initiates a login. Each message contains a short numeric code that expires after a limited time. We do not send promotional marketing, sales offers, newsletters, or third-party advertisements via SMS.

3. Message Frequency

You will receive an SMS message only when a login attempt is made on your midlayr account and 2FA is triggered. Under normal use, this means approximately 1 to 5 messages per month — one each time you log in. If you log in frequently or if multiple login attempts are made, you may receive more. If your account is inactive, you will receive no messages.

4. Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. midlayr does not charge you to receive SMS messages. If you are unsure whether your plan includes text messaging, check with your carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, or other provider) for details.

5. How We Handle Your Mobile Number

Your mobile phone number is stored securely in midlayr's internal systems and is accessible only to midlayr team members who need it to manage your account security. We do not sell, rent, trade, share, or otherwise disclose your mobile number to any third party for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes. We do not share your number with affiliates, partners, or third-party advertisers under any circumstances. Your number is used solely by midlayr to deliver 2FA verification codes, and is transmitted through Twilio, our SMS service provider, solely for the purpose of delivering those messages.

6. Opting Out

Because 2FA messages are tied to your account security, you cannot fully opt out of receiving them while 2FA is enabled on your account — otherwise you would be unable to log in. However, you may opt out of SMS-based 2FA at any time by contacting us at connect@midlayr.com and requesting that we disable 2FA or switch your verification method. Once disabled, no further SMS messages will be sent. You may also reply STOP to any message, which will block future SMS delivery — but please note this will prevent you from receiving future login codes until you contact us to update your verification method. For help with your account or our 2FA program, reply HELP to any message and a midlayr team member will follow up with you.

7. Data Retention

midlayr retains your mobile number for as long as your account is active and 2FA is enabled. If your account is closed or 2FA is disabled at your request, we will remove your number from our active messaging list within 48 hours. We may retain a record of your opt-out or account closure request for compliance and security purposes.

8. Carrier Disclaimer

midlayr is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages caused by your mobile carrier, network provider, device limitations, or any other factors beyond our control. Delivery of SMS messages depends on your carrier's network and your device's ability to receive text messages.

9. Changes to This Policy

midlayr may update this SMS Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date above. Continued use of your midlayr account after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
